The Tree That Grew Too Tall

Once Upon a time there was a tree that grew taller and taller, it wanted to grow as tall as it possibly could. The tree loved having kids climb and hang from its limbs. It was happy to share its shade with everyone in the summer and in the fall it always had the most leaves fall, so lots of kids would jump and play in piles of leaves around its trunk. In the winter it was always alone and cold but always made it through knowing the spring would soon come and it could start growing again. One spring day the tree realized it was now too tall for anyone to enjoy. No kids would climb it's limbs as they were too high. No one would lean against its trunk in the summer because it didn't provide as much shade as other trees. When fall came because the tree was so tall that the wind took the leaves far away and no one would play around its trunk in piles of leaves. The tree felt as cold and as lonely as it did in the winter. The tree who once felt so good and had so many friends that would play around it, was now miserable and decided not to grow any more. Near the end of fall there was a girl that came across the tree. She had remembered growing up with the tree and playing around it. She now saw that the tree was alone and lacked the beauty and strength it had when it had all the children played around it. So the Girl (who was all grown up now) decided she would play around the tree as she had done growing up. The girl climbed the tree as she was older now and could reach the branches. She kept climbing and climbing until they were as high as they could go. The girl then looked around and beheld the most magnificent view! She spent hours laying in the limbs of the tree taking in the beautiful sight. It was one of the most peaceful places the girl had found. The girl came back every chance she had for the rest of her life and later in life brought her children there to play around the tree. The tree was so happy now, It wasn't really worried about having lots of friends around or getting attention from lots of kids; It was just happy to have someone who took the time to find something no one had ever looked for. Now that the tree had someone that cared for it, the tree decided it would keep growing and would never stop growing again.
